2008 Membership Meeting

The HBCU Library Alliance celebrated its third Membership Meeting in the Queen City of Charlotte on October 28th and 29th.  “Raising the Bar: Redesigning HBCU Libraries for the 21st Century” was meeting’s theme.

The Membership Meeting was preceded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation sponsored pre-conference “The Care and Conservation of Photographic Collections.”

One hundred fourteen colleagues representing seventy one institutions converged in Charlotte to meet, mingle, and hear relevant talks on library issues.  Keynote speaker Dr. Julianne Malveaux, President of Bennett College for Women, energized and affirmed us with her speech “To Excite Dissatisfaction: Possibilities for 21st Century Libraries.”
